Teach a Global Language. Advance Your Career.
In an increasingly connected world, students need dedicated instructors to help them build bridges in language. At Malone University, the online Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Endorsement program successfully prepares you to further your career in this specialized area of instruction.
At Malone, we integrate the highest academic standards with faith-based values. Combining a comprehensive curriculum with a Christ-centered foundation, we teach you how to bring ethical practices to everything you do.
Key topics covered by Malone’s online TESOL Endorsement include:
- Language acquisition
- Current research
- ESL instruction policy
- Assessment design
- Implementing research-based practices
- Language testing
- Syntax and semantics
In addition, you’ll be required to take a practicum designed to help you gain in-classroom training with students learning English. This practicum allows you the opportunity to integrate knowledge with practice while working alongside an approved TESOL mentor. As a culminating experience, the practicum includes formal observation, evaluation, and support.
The TESOL endorsement combines the expertise of our Department of Education and Department of English. Specifically created for those who already possess an Ohio teaching license, the program serves as both an individual endorsement and cognate area for our M.A.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (offered on campus). You may, therefore, choose to immediately begin working after graduation, or use the program as a step toward earning an additional Master’s degree.
Because the program is offered fully online, you’ll get the flexibility you need as a working professional. Classes are offered asynchronously, and let you study on a schedule that fits around your needs. You’ll take courses taught by the same qualified instructors that teach in our on-campus programs, and benefit from the same low student-to-faculty ratios and welcoming community.
